Tue, 9 February 2010 ![]() It's finally out! After over a week of technical problems and Audacity break downs, Stacebob The PC-Conqueror gives you Comic Racks Episode 49B, co-starring The Hod! The Hod, a fellow Birminghamite, father to a future comic nerd, and the human encyclopedia of all things geek, joins Stacey this episode to discuss a wide range of topics, from thoughts on the new iPad, Gail Simone returning to Birds of Prey and how to get an entire cinema screen to yourself. Hear their reviews of films such as Daybreakers, Ninja Assassin and The Damned United, comics including a zillion 2000AD related titles, The Sword and Green Arrow: Quiver, and discover the comic that Stacey dropped this fortnight! All this plus two interesting Rack Music choices, Power Girl, yet more Blackest Night drool sessions, tangents a-plenty and a very special outro tune just for The Hod. Apologies in advance for the poor sound quality in the episode, especially to my good friend The Hod, who kindly stepped in at super-short notice to do this episode with me. I have no idea what happened, and have spent several hours trying to make it as good as possible. Sorry! |
Wed, 3 February 2010 Hey guys, Stacebob here, just to give a wee bit of craptacular news. As of this evening, I've requested to have the comments turned off on these here LibSyn blog posts, which should take effect tomorrow soemtime. Unfortunately, of late, we've been getting an absolute ton of spam posts from random people (which reminds me; DO NOT buy GHD hair straighteners; my hair is like a white woman's afro and they did nothing, and then broke about two months after I got them! Remington all the way...) Ahem, anyways, when it first started we were only getting one or two spam posts a day, and that was fine because it's not much trouble to check one or two email notifications for the comments. However, over the past couple of weeks we've been getting between 50 and 230 a day, and I'm very conscious that genuine listener comments might get lost in all that crap, as Iz and myself don't really have the time to wade through all those notifications. To be honest, it really gets my goat that I'm resorting to removing comments altogether, but unfortunately LibSyn doesn't offer the chance to block certain users and I see no other way to rectify the problem without potentially losing some good comments amongst all the shite. We will, of course, still be releasing our episodes through LibSyn, but unfortuantely, if you wish to leave feedback for the show it can no longer be done here. So, it is with very heavy heart that I say sorry to those of you genuine fun posters who used to come here, and I want you all to know that you can still contact the delightful duo here at Comic Racks either by email ( comicracks@yahoo.com ), on www.thecomicforums.com (just scroll down to Geek Syndicate, and check out our sub forum there), on LiveJournal (search for the community geeksyndicate) or, finally, on Facebook (we're the only group called Comic Racks so you should be able to find us. Tue, 20 October 2009 Whilst Iz is away, sunning herself on exotic beaches, lazing by the pool and testing the elasticity of her trousers at the buffet, Stace enlists the help of fellow comic nerd and podcaster, Eric Martin, for this rather long and tangent-filled episode. Eric, also known as The Question on thecomicforums.com, is one half of both the DC Noise and Comics Playground podcasts. As Stace sets the record for the number of times one person can say 'anyway' in one podcast (and there were more, now to be found only on the cutting room floor!), Eric divulges the very first comic he bought with his own money, why that one in particular caught his eye, and which comic storyline he'd erase from continuity if he could, along with a few of his favourite things. Amongst the Reviews this episode are the Wonder Woman animated movie, North 40, Wednesday Comics, Master of Horror, Bear, Green Lantern Corps and more! Eric sets Stacey off on yet another love-filled ramble on Blackest Night, the Peeve section disintigrates into digressions galore and both Eric and Stace admit to shedding a tear over a comic. All this, plus two jolly spiffing music nuggets, a lotta DC love and reasons why Stace would make a terrible superhero. Enjoy! Comments[20] |
Wed, 14 October 2009 What's this? Comic Racks on a Wednesday?...Yes, after far too long a time, and far too many con-related germs, Iz and Stace get together for a mid-week Racks dedicated to the awesome fun that was the British International Comics Show 2009. Although one half of the Racks didn't attend the actual show, fun times were still had by all in the pub on the night! Listen in as Iz tells of her convention experience, while Stace tells of the immense fun of being more sober than everyone else at a party. There's face-licking, dinosaur jazz hands, and wine ahoy as the Racks take on Birmingham. On top of that comes some awesome Rack Music, Stace's weeping upon finally seeing Up, and Iz's take on the movie Fame. All this, plus Kevin Smith, Pixies, boats, uhn tiss uhn tiss uhn tiss music and more! Enjoy! Comments[19] |
