The girls fight against their crushing disappointment as special guest Rackette Barry Nugent cancels his appearence on episode 25, but try and save the day by a last minute extended review section.

Laugh at (not with) the girls as they swap Wii-Fit related injury stories, discuss strategic poos, and try and save hdutch007's liver by vowing not to mention Jamie Smart for an entire episode.....

Cringe at the girls singing their "We love Gail Simone" song and revel in the joy that is the Cymru Con 2009.

This episode's HUGE review section includes comic books (Short Stack #2, All Star batman & Robin Vol 1, Lady Bullseye, Savage #1, Secret Six #3, and Zen Intergalactic Ninja #1 and more), TV (Dead Set), films (Burn After Reading and Cloverfield), and even a podcast (The Sidekickcast).

Enjoy :)

In this, the second part of the super-mage-awesome birthday special, the Ladies of Rackington tackle more of your burning questions, including what Stace thinks of the new Deadpool run, whether Iz would save shoes or comics from a fire, what's sat about in their "to read" piles for aaaaaages and who would win in a Whubble vs Spongebob Death Match!

Stacey reveals just how nerdy she is when it comes to comic collecting, as Iz disagrees with Stacey's choice of Hottest Comic Movie Lady, and both try (and fail quite badly) at avoiding the Kirsten Dunst rant they were both provoked by listeners into starting.

All this plus the Ladies favourite Halloween films (warning: spiders ahoy!), some cracking Rack Music choices, and the Peeve to end all Peeves.

Have at it!

Welcome to this super duper mega special birthday spectacular episode of Comic Racks! That's right, because it was recently their first birthday, The Racks offer you part one of our mammoth Ask The Racks special! Huzzah!

The ladies get their spoiler heads on as they blitz through a load of reviews, including such delights as IDW's new Ghostbusters title, Secret Six, Captain Britain & MI:13, Bear, Crossed and much more. The spoilers continue as this episode's Tops and Tails are revealed, and Stacey revels in the knowledge that she's not an f-ing idiot.

In the news section, the girls actually have some news to share, and set about discussing Ham & Eggs, the Watchmen movie ending controversy, and the general lack of He-Man movie makery amongst other things.

Onto the main section, where the first part of this, the birthday double part joy, is monopolised by Mr The Hod as The Racks ladies attempt to answer every question of his, including why we like comics so much, what we read when we were little, and whether any elements of geek culture scare the pants off us.

All this, plus a public apology to Richard Herring, Iz's nerdy anniversary fun, and The Graysons?...

Look out for Episode 24b, coming your way next week! Squee!

Welcome to Episode 23, where Comic Racks will engage you with tales of squidgy fingers, job-miffs, and podcast-theivery...and then actually get on with the episode itself.

This week we have real-people news (Comic Racks, Jamie Smart, and Almost Dr Karl Byrne) and some pretty spiffy reviews:

Deadpool #1 and 2
Big Hero 6 #1
The Dead #1

Our Top of the Racks are as outstanding as ever with a controversial Tail thrown in for good measure (via a big joint fume about Forbidden Planet)...

Our main topic this episode is less of a blow-by-blow account of Brum Con 08, but rather more of a how-drunk-did-we-get-and-what-panels-did-we-miss? account :) Join us as we ramble about our celebrity new best friends, the panels that we *did* manage to get to, and what we got up to with all our forum buddies :)

We round off with some cracking Rack Music (Clint Eastwood from Gorillaz and Cath... from Death Cab for Cutie), as well as a rather dubious Peeve...

Tune in next fortnight for an Ask the Racks special and don't forget this is the last episode to be hosted on the Geek Syndicate feed - in the future find us solely at

We return to our usual disorganised ‘format’ in this episode – join us as we discuss the not-so newsworthy-News, a wide ranging Reviews section, groovy Top of the Racks, very dis-similar Rack Music, and a bit of a natter about the upcoming Birmingham Con (without knowing who was doing what events/panels – which helpfully went up the day after we recorded!).

Prepare for tangents-a-go-go as we get distracted (surprise!) over Jamie Smart drawing robots hurling over nuns, Stace diving on creators, Iz going dreamy over Almost Dr Karl and his debut at BrumCon.

Reviews include: Mummy 3, Angry Gnome’s Short Stack, Mercury & the Murd, Catwoman #82 and True Story Swear To God.

Top of the Racks this episode are Fat Chunk & the Judge Dredd Megazine’s Tank Girl – both of which *everyone* should pick up :)

Rack Music: Biffy Clyro – Mountains, Jonathan Coulton – Skullcrusher Mountain

In this super-duper special episode, The Ladies of the Racks get up close and personal with none other than Bear and Ubu Bubu creator and all-round cool dude, Jamie Smart!

Alas, there are no news and reviews segments, but heck, who needs those when you have a awesome interview?? Especially when said interview reveals a deep seated hatred of Jaffa Cakes, a general fear of selling oneself at conventions, a far too large amount of talk about cat porn, and the revelation that Jamie Smart smells. It's true. No, really.

Sir Jamie Smartington sticks with the girls through Rack Music, almost causing a divide in Rack City, and even puts forth a Peeve of the Fortnight. Like this podcast wasn't filled with enough vitriol ;)

All this plus girly squeals, more random swear words than you can shake a stick at and a whole lot of fun!

~ Please to note: We apologise profusely for the sound quality of this episode. Unfortunately technical difficulties minutes before recording and the Pamela program's all-round hatred of Racks fun lead to a rather muffled Jamie. We present this episode to you in the best state we could muster, and we hope to muck around with other recording programmes in order to have Jamie on again in the future. If he'll do it, that is, we were quite scary... ~

In this momentous episode the ladies do away with their usual format in order to bring you their very first creator interview with none other than the frankly rather awesome Paul Cornell.

Paul has dipped his toe into the wonderful world of comics on many an occasion, writing stories such as Wisdom, 2000AD's XTNCT and the currently running (and fucking brilliant) Captain Britain and MI:13 series, to name but a few. As well as working in the comics world, Paul has penned some of the best episodes of Doctor Who to grace our TV screens (Human Nature and Family Of Blood, anyone?), several Doctor Who novels and audio shows, and episodes for top series' such as Primeval, Robin Hood and Casualty.During the interview, the girls quiz Paul about his upcoming projects, whether being a writer makes watching shows/reading books more difficult from a technical point of view, and whether he's had any unnerving fan experiences (other than Stacey professing her undying love for him at Bristol Convention earlier this year, of course.)To top the episode off, we pick our Rack Music for this fortnight; both of which turn out to be rather geekily inspired as one of us riffs on a Watchmen theme while the other takes inspiration from Wisdom #3.

All this as well as some insights into Paul's writing history, advice for budding writers and some good old fashioned swearing.Don't forget to take part in the UK Comics Podcast Group competition by listening to the 5 Secret Quotation episodes: for more information visit www.comicspodcasts.co.ukEnjoy!
